Magma Tides.
It is well known that below the surface of the planet flow huge streams of magma. Their circulation and the direction of their flow is in turn thought to be
connected with the wandering magnetic pole.
Inter-linked.
Most important is the fact that the weight of polar ice and the volume of magma flow work in tandem. The more ice the less magma below it, and vice versa. This
is because the surface of the earth is remarkably pliant. It means that if an enormous weight like the ice caps suddenly alters in whatever way, this is bound to cause unbalance below the
surface.
Release of pressure.
Where this becomes dangerous is that suppressed areas suddenly made lighter by the melting of the ice caps as could occur with global warming, might experience a
sudden surge of magma, that could be highly unsettling to the worlds equilibrium. It is almost as if fluid in a sphere rushes to one particular side and tilts the whole thing over!
Swift Changes.
Similarly, thousands of years of ice cap pressure might prove dangerous if released in a short space of time, and this is exactly what might happen if too much
polar ice melts in too short a time.
Other Factors.
The exact effect of this tidal change is open to debate. Some believe it would not in itself be sufficient to tip the world over, but would require the action of
an additional factor. Such a scenario might well result as a combination of factors, each acting upon one another to produce a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions.
At the root of it lies the instability caused by magma fluctuations - a concept now described as The Earth Tide Theory.
